How to Open Files With the MDI File Extension

    • 1). Open the "Control Panel" via the "Start" menu.

    • 2). Click "Uninstall a Program" beneath "Programs."

    • 3). Click "Microsoft Office XX," where XX is the year. For example, you may be clicking "Microsoft Office 2007" or "Microsoft Office 2010."

    • 4). Click "Change" on the top of the window.

    • 5). Choose "Add/Remove Features," and click "Next."

    • 6). Choose "Run all from my computer" under the "Microsoft Office Document Imaging" category within "Office Tools." Click "OK."

    • 7). Navigate to the MDI file. Double-click the file, and it will automatically open in the Microsoft Document Imaging program.
