How to Convert MS Word to ASCII

    • 1). Launch Microsoft Word and open or create the document that is to be saved in ASCII format.

    • 2). Click "File" on the toolbar.

    • 3). Click "Save As" from the left window in the "File" menu.

    • 4). Navigate to the desired location where the file will be saved.

    • 5). Type the desired name for the file in the "File Name:" box.

    • 6). Click the "Save As Type" dialog box and click the "Plain Text (*.txt)" entry in the list.

    • 7). Click "Tools" and "Web Options."

    • 8). Click the "Encoding" tab.

    • 9). Click the "Save This Document As" pull-down menu and click "US-ASCII."

      Click "OK" to save the web options and click "Save" to save the document.
