    • 1). Check the "Hold" switch on top of the iPod. Slide it back into the disabled position to the left on the iPod. Move it back and forth to make sure that the problem is not being caused by the switch.

    • 2). Press and hold the center and "Menu" buttons on the device for six to eight seconds to reset the iPod. The "Apple" logo will appear. Wait until the device resets.

    • 3). Plug your iPod in to charge the battery. An uncharged battery can cause the problem. After you plug it in and wait a few moments, press a button and check the screen.
