      The Brazil nut is actually a seed found inside a large fruit that grows on the bertholletia excelsa tree. About 25 nuts can be harvested from one fruit, and the majority of the world's Brazil nuts come directly from independent farmers inside of the Amazon rainforest. Brazil nuts are a popular edition to most bags of mixed nuts. They are a large, half moon shaped seed with a creamy white texture and a mild taste. Brazil nuts are high in fat, but they are also a good source of protein. The protein in a Brazil nut contains amino acids, which are similar to the protein from meat and a good replacement for vegetarians.

      The acai fruit is a small, purple berry-like fruit native to the Amazon rainforest. Acai has several health benefits. The fruit is high in antioxidant, amino acids, and fiber. According to San Diego Magazine, acai spoils within 24 hours of being picked. Brazilians eat the fruit directly off the vine. In other countries acai is made into juice or smoothies.
