How to Fix a Cigar Lighter
- 1). Press the ignition button on the lighter to determine if the lighter will ignite. If the lighter will spark but no flame is produced, you may need to add fuel. Before adding fuel, purge the butane fuel tank to ensure there is no trapped air inside.
- 2). Purge the tank by turning the flame adjustment screw to the minimum or minus setting with a small screwdriver. Bleed the tank completely by depressing and holding the filler valve with a small screwdriver. Turn the lighter upside down and add quality butane to the tank. Allow the butane to reach room temperature, adjust the flame control and attempt to light it.
- 3). Clean the burner of the lighter if there is still a spark but no flame. Use a can of compressed air with an extension nozzle to remove any deposits or residue. Hold the end of the nozzle 6 to 8 inches from the burner and apply three short bursts of air.
- 4). Adjust the flame of the lighter if it is too high or too low. Press the ignition button and observe the height of the flame. Release the button and adjust the flame control with a small screwdriver, then check the flame height once again.
