How to Change a 1st Generation iPod Shuffle Battery
- 1). Turn off the iPod Shuffle.
- 2). Remove the cover from the USB end of the iPod Shuffle.
- 3). Insert a small flat-head screwdriver or the tip of a small box cutter into the groove around the edge of the USB connector. Gently work your way around the groove until you've cut through all the glue.
- 4). Pull the USB connector out of the iPod Shuffle. A component board will come out with it, so don't pull it too hard.
- 5). Insert the flat-head screwdriver or box cutter under the power switch and gently pry it off the iPod Shuffle.
- 6). Insert a plastic scribe or a ballpoint pen into the audio connector at the bottom of the iPod Shuffle and push the internal components out of the device.
- 7). Pull the USB connector. The rest of the components will come out.
- 8). Clip the wires that run from the battery to the system board. This will free the battery from the iPod Shuffle.
- 9). Solder the ends of the cables of the replacement battery to the system board and allow the soldering to solidify.

Put the iPod Shuffle's internal components back inside the case. - 11
Apply Super Glue to the groove around the USB connector and replace the power switch. The iPod Shuffle is now ready for use.
