How to Make Zero Clearance Plates for a Ridgid Table Saw 3660
- 1). Disconnect the power from the table saw for safety.
- 2). Lower the table saw blade to its lowest point. Remove the table saw insert plate from the saw. Remove the screw from the insert plate using a Phillips head screw driver.
- 3). Place a piece of double-sided tape on top of the table saw insert. Press the insert onto a piece of 1/2-inch Birch plywood that is slightly larger than the insert plate.
- 4). Trim the excess material from around the table saw insert with a bench-mounted router using a template router bit. This will make a perfect-fitting blank for the zero clearance insert.
- 5). Mark the location for the mounting screw using the original insert plate. Countersink a hole for the hold down screw using a drill and a countersink drill bit.
- 6). Use a palm sander to sand the plywood insert to the same thickness as the original insert.
- 7). Mount the new table saw insert into the table saw. Start the saw and raise the blade slowly through the insert plate.
