Thinking outside of the Square and Building Better and Bigger business Relationships.
Let me suggest that Building Better Business Relationships in 2010 is a little more than greeting our clients correctly on the phone, or providing outstanding customer service.
In this multimedia society that we are being totally consumed with, Social Media is not just for our Children and Grandchildren to lose a couple of hours every day chatting to their friends.
Social Media is fast becoming a place where I believe that every business needs to have a presence.
Social media is providing the human connection that we are all looking for, Social Media allows people to feel connected to the Community.
There are 3 major sites that we should be utilizing- Face Book, Twitter and Linked In also look at the options of using YouTube.
Face book has over 500 million active users, of these active users over 1/2 of them access face book daily, and they have over 80 pages or groups that each of them associate with.
Twitter has gathered over 105 million registered users and is gaining 300,000 new users daily.
Listening to others on Twitter gives you a chance to leader in your field.
LinkedIn - Is a connection platform for business people.
You have to look for people to connect with and build relationships - this is like face book however on a more professional level.
YouTube, - is a great medium to upload videos, allowing your business to post videos to show your clients and prospective clients that you are the leader in your field.
Also YouTube is fun to play with - do videos and upload.
Do you realize that over 73% of the worlds internet users have a blog.
A Blog is An online journal, published frequently (often daily).
Do you realize that 44% of these internet users have their own blog.
So what does this all mean for your business? Firstly using social media allows you and your business to connect with people/ clients that you haven't met yet.
You build relationships with these people, they like you and trust you and will refer you to their friends...
You will be able to build business relationships with other companies; there are endless possibilities for Joint Ventures and Affiliate options.
If your business is active on social media and you come across an unhappy client who may wish to blog about you..
There is a good chance that none of your prospective clients will see that blog as you should dominate the first two three pages of Google.
Just as recent as last week, I did a search a local / national franchise business here in Cairns to obtain their phone number.
The first three lines of Google gave me the information that I was looking for, however the next 10 entries on the first page of Google was a very unhappy client, who have blogged all of his concerns about what this business didn't do for him...
After reading the blog I was a little concerned about whether I should be using the services of this company also...
However If they had been actively using the social media I as a prospective client would not have see this blog entry.
As a business' owner and business coach I am currently blogging continually and keep building relationship's online with many people I am yet to meet; Four Squares in very quickly becoming another social media platform, this platform allow people to check in...
I check in everywhere and it also allows me to make a comment about the service, food place etc..
I checked the stats on Foursquare and there is about 20 people activity checking in all over cairns, Every business needs to see what these people are saying about their business.
Four Squares is a great place to promote your business for free...
I currently have stats on four squares..
now what if these business were using my mayor ship to promote themselves...

I have used this speech in several ways, I loaded it onto my blog site, I recorded it as a podcast and I uploaded a video to YouTube.
So with one piece I have utilized it to many different social media platforms - It took all of 5 minutes.
I suggest for you an your business to look at the opportunity that social media will offer you and look outside the square when building better business' relationship's.
