There are two kinds of truck repair that need to be delineated. The first kind is the one that is done on a schedule and it's pretty standard. That is because the better the trucks are maintained the more cost effective they can be. The other reason is that the better the trucks are maintained on a schedule the less they will be stopped for an unexpected repair. Unexpected repairs can cost a lot more than scheduled ones and there is the issue of letting a customer know that their cargo is stuck somewhere on the road. Things like this are not what a customer wants to hear. As such keeping a tight maintenance schedule is important.

The second kind of maintenance is the one alluded to above, which is the maintenance that crops up unexpectedly. If the owner keeps the scheduled maintenance well, the unexpected maintenance will be lowered considerably but not totally. There are issues of minor accidents; there are also issues of weather damage and other mechanical issues that crop up. So between the two kinds of maintenance it is important that the owner keep good track of what is going on with the repair and maintenance of the truck.

Scheduled Truck Repair

Another benefit of scheduled truck repair is that when the time comes to trade in the truck or to put it on the used truck market, a truck that has been well taken care off will fetch a much higher value than one that has shown total disregard to its maintenance schedule. There are various categories of scheduled truck repair. First there is the light maintenance that you can do on the road. There is the simple oil and fluid change. These can be done at almost any reputable national chain. That way, the truck doesn't have to be taken off of work to be serviced. The next category is where it goes on for just a simple inspection. These can be the ones prescribed by the manufacturer or these can be scheduled by the owner to make sure that the truck is being driven the way it should be. Then finally are the major ones where there are transmission replacements or engine overhauls. These can put a truck down for some time.

Emergency Repair

The second kind of truck repairs are the ones where no one plans for them, but they should. These are the accidents and other unintended damages that crop up just by virtue of the fact that the truck is constantly on the road and chances are something will happen to it at some point. These kinds of repairs differ in severity and many of the kinds of trouble can and should be insured.

At the end of the day, just remember that the truck is a huge mechanical marvel with hundreds of moving parts that need to be taken care of. They must be serviced, lubricated, cleaned and checked ever so often.
