Time Management is an organizational skill.
All organization requires a plan.
When your plan involves time management it is a time management plan.
How do you put action into your plan? Actually all plans that you make are time management plans even you haven't thought of them that way.
Why? All plans involve getting a certain thing done in a particular time period and/or way.
Getting your plan to work for you will take practice and time.
Don't expect everything to fall in place in the first plan you create.
Experience and practice are the only things needed to learn how to make a workable plan.
Ask for advice and help when needed.
Other people have experienced the same difficulties that you are facing.
Learn from their mistakes as well as your own.
To make your plan of action list the tasks that need doing to reach your goal.
List the actions steps in the order that you want to complete them.
We all know that plans are wonderful, needed, and very helpful; but are useless without action.
Action is what makes a plan work.
The obvious reason to have a plan is that it increases your chance of success; failing to make a plan really means you are planning to fail.
Exactly what is a time management plan? On its most elementary level it is a plan that lists the steps needed to achieve your goal in the shortest time.
For many people using a time management plan is the only way they are able to achieve productivity and their goals.
Working without one is like shooting arrows in the air hoping to hit the target, without you knowing where or what the target is.
  • Writing down your tasks either on paper or on your computer is the most effective first step needed to have a plan.
  • The goal of a time management plan is your long-term goals.
    Write them down, plan each step.
    Check your daily task list and make sure that you are traveling in the right direction.
  • Use your time wisely; time cannot be saved for later.
    Be sure you don't waste too much time.
  • Important things will get done.
    List them, plan them, and do them.
  • Don't wallow in past mistakes; they can only bog you down.
    Learn from your mistakes and you will do great.
  • Revise, edit, and revise your list and your goals.
    Your list always need fine tuning, don't be afraid to add or alter your goals.
  • Expect interruptions and the unexpected.
    Life is full of surprises, plan for them.
  • List every task you need to get done each day.
    "Forgetting" to write routine but needed tasks will keep you from being able to follow and complete your time management plan.
  • Keep open spaces in your plan to allow for unexpected events and some "down" time.
  • Be sure to schedule time for sleep, meals, and some fun.
    Failing to put these items down make for a great looking plan, but it also means that your plan will not work.
  • Check yourself to see if you are doing meaningless tasks to avoid getting down to the work of more difficult or less tasteful tasks.
    This is self-sabotage.
Learning to make effective time management plans is an essential skill to master.
