Ölü Deniz is located 14km south of the main town of Fethiye, and lays at the foot of BabadaÄ?, the huge mountain in which hundreds of paragliders take off and sail down to land on the promenade.
It is a very unique sight as you lay on the beach and see the sky scattered with so many paragliding sails.
Paragliding is just one of the many activities for tourists which can take place in this thriving resort such as boat trips to the surrounding islands, jet skiing, and parasailing.
The name Ölu Deniz translates literally as 'Dead Sea' because the water is so calm, even during extreme weather and storms.
This makes it very family friendly as parents don't need to worry about the sea being too rough on those ever so popular days at the beach.
Along the beach is the well known Blue Lagoon which is a national nature reserve, here you can rent a pedal boat and enjoy the still, calm waters surrounded by the stunning mountains.
It is at this Lagoon where the water is said to be separated into salt water, and fresh water.
The resort of Ölü Deniz is full of hotels, restaurants, low key bars, a couple of night clubs, shops, and excursion companies so you can arrange your holiday activities.
So there is plenty to keep you amused and of course it is only a short drive (5-10mins) to the bustling village of hisaronu where there are more high profile clubs and bars, and even more shops and restaurants.
