You have set the date and selected your ceremony and reception site.
Your only problem know, is the spaces are kind of "blah".
They are mere blank canvases with little to no architectural features, no stunning woodwork, ballroom ceilings or the like.
So, what do you do to create a beautiful backdrop for your wedding day? Don't worry.
This situation is very common.
On the positive side, the skies the limit, but on the other hand that feeling can be overwhelming.
Where do you start? This guide will provide you so great ideas to create a fabulous look, no matter what the beginning canvas looks like.
1.
) Use what you do have.
If there are high ceilings consider draping colored fabric panels to create a grand ballroom effect and to cut down ceilings for a more cozy feeling.
(This will also reduce echoing throughout the ballroom).
Consider using up-lights on trees over 10 feet tall to create dancing shadow canopies on the ceiling.
If you have large windows make them your natural backdrop by flanking them with fabric panels or stunning floral arrangements on grand pillars.
2.
) Create private spaces.
Use fabric to create colored backdrops or use decorative screens to create private seating areas, place large potted plants and trees in a row to separate two spaces and/or place furniture in groupings to create a chic space to relax.
3.
) Bring in bold colors.
Rich colors in mass will transform any room.
Don't be shy, choose hot pink, red or a rich purple and use it everywhere.
Dress up tables with colored linens, incorporate into all flower arrangements, hang colored fabric panels from the ceiling and on the walls, or choose a colored aisle runner to identify your grand entrance.
4.
) Take the lights down low.
Low lights and lots of candles can create an elegant, warm feeling in any room.
Create "candlescapes" and groupings on tables, ledges, along pathways and anywhere you need.
Remember, you can always use battery operated candles in places where open flames maybe a safety hazard and restricted by the facility.
To create an even greater look, combine with lots of reflective surfaces like clear glass, water, faux ice and mirrors.
This will cause the candle light to dance around the room.
Accent corners with up-lights and/or use colored spotlights for mood enhancement.
5.
) Use flowers everywhere.
Flowers are a natural way to add color and texture.
Bring in inexpensive flowering bushes for tabletops and aisles.
Consider garlands along windows, doorways and ledges.
Sprinkle petals on floors and tables or use as glass container filler.
If cost is important, forgot the flowering centerpieces and go for a couple of large arrangements to flank the head table, or be used on a buffet table.
(Double up and transport them from the ceremony to the reception.
) 6.
) Create focal points.
In "blah" spaces, walls or focal points are lacking throughout the space.
Create wall grouping with floral art, standing floor candle groupings or hang decorative fabric.
Use pillar tables with a large centerpiece to great people or use an easel with couple pictures to create a conversation piece.
7.
) Rent what you need.
Rental companies can provide you everything from roman columns, to large arches and everything in between.
Rent colored linens, up-lights, centerpieces and table numbers.
This is a great way to afford a grand look on any budget.
