Affiliate Marketing - Squidon"ts, What Are They?

103 25
It can be said that affiliate marketers have to shoot themselves in the foot on Squidoo.
There have been so many lens spams, that Squidoo has decided to "lock" (meaning take away from you), every single lens that is not adhering to the new rules.
What are the new rules? Some topics were too frequently turned into spam pages.
Those topics are for the most part: Pharmaceuticals, drugs, diet products, Movie downloads and several affiliate programs.
For example, if your affiliate program has abused Squidoo with spam lenses relentlessly, no matter how good your page might be, you won't be able to create anymore lens with your affiliate program's name anymore.
In many cases, it will be out, before it's in.
If you have a lens already existing that touches on one of the "don't" themes, most likely it will be locked or you won't be able to update it ever.
When you try to update your lens, it will be caught by the spam bait filters and Squidoo will ask you to either delete or edit it until it's up to the new standards.
However, sometimes, even though you will try to correct your lens, you might still not be able to republish it, and you will have to surrender it to be checked manually.
Once it's in the hands of the Squidoo team it will be up to them to allow the lens with the changes you are trying to make or decide to lock it anyway.
I should know, because it happened to me.
Make sure your content is safe, before you surrender your lens for manual check.
Here is a tip: If you already have lenses that are under the radar because of abuse in your niche or product, but those lenses are not locked yet, you might want to save your content ASAP.
You can do this for every lens you decide to have manually reviewed, in case it gets locked.
On Squidoo itself there is an "export" button that will allow you to export the content of your lens in the form of HTML.
This is one way.
If you want to save the whole content just as it is, simply open a free Blogger.
com account; copy the content of your lens and paste it on Blogger as a post.
This is very easy to do and it will allow you to save your lenses very quickly.
This is what you can do for all your old lenses that are not welcome on Squidoo anymore.
As for all new lenses that you want to create, beware of all the Squidon'ts.
If you want to have the complete list, you can find the link on their home page.
Squidoo is a great place to write, and they had the right to get tired of the spam junk that was just becoming too much.
If we all play the game fairly we can all have fun and make great money on Squidoo.
