How to Remove a GE Oven Over Limit Switch
- 1). Turn off the electrical power to the GE oven from the kitchen circuit breaker. Open the oven door to a 90-degree angle.
- 2). Loosen and remove the screws on the side door hinges using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Lift up the entire door to remove it from the oven.
- 3). Lift up the cooktop from the front of the oven, then use the two rods attached to the inside of the cooktop to raise the entire panel.
- 4). Remove the three screws from the top of the control panel, then remove the four screws from the bottom side of the control panel.
- 5). Pull the control panel forward, then lift up to access the parts within the control panel. Locate the over-limit switch on the back lift side next to the fan switch.
- 6). Disconnect the wire connector from the over-limit switch using needle-nose pliers, then remove the screw attached to the mounting plate holding the switch in place.
- 7). Lift up and remove the over-limit switch from the control board. Inspect the switch to determine if it is broken and needs to be replaced.
