    • 1). Tie back shrubs with twine or cover them with tarps to protect them from the power washer.

    • 2). Attach a garden hose to the power washer and attach the power washer's hose to the main unit. Snap a 25-degree nozzle tip on the end of the power washer hose.

    • 3). Turn on the water and press on the power washer's hand-held trigger. When water begins to squirt out, release the trigger and start the power washer's engine.

    • 4). Stand 18 to 20 inches from the wood fence and press the trigger, spraying the fence in a back and forth fanning motion. Make two or three brief passes rather than one long pass to avoid damaging the wood. The stains will begin to disappear and bright new wood will emerge.

    • 5). Move on to another section of the fence when no more new wood color appears. Prolonged exposure to the stream of water may damage the wood.
