What Are ILO Servers?
- ILO allows server administrators to control ProLiant servers from remote sites as if the servers were being used directly and locally. Basic features include remote power on/off, simplified setup, group configuration, virtual indicators and diagnostics, detailed server status and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) security.
- Integrated Lights-out servers exist as iLO version 3 as of 2011. The latest features of this technology are faster remote console and virtual media for remote management, remote deployment and update performance, improved integrated remote consoles for the Windows and Linux operating systems and superior encryption and local area network support.
- ILO servers run on various operating systems, including Microsoft Windows 2008 32/64 bit, 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 32/64 bit, Windows Server 2003 and 2003 R2. Additionally, 32/64 bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4, VMware ESX 3.5.0 and 4.0 and 32/64 bit SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 and 11 run iLO.
- ILO technology works with Windows XP, Vista and 7 on client systems, as well as Red Hat Enterprise Desktop 5.00 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and 11. Usable client browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8 and Firefox 3.0 and 3.5 for Windows and Linux.
