How to Use the Thomas Guide
- 1). Select the Thomas Guide for the area of the country or state in which you will be traveling. If exact locations are needed, make sure you have a map that includes a view of city streets.
- 2). Study the overall layout of your Thomas Guide to see how the sections are divided. Read the index to understand the specific sections of the guidebook.
- 3). Go to the index page and look up the street you are trying to find. Once you locate the street name, follow the line that the name is on, to the right of the column and locate the page number and grid number for the street location.
- 4). Go to the page given for the street you're looking for. Follow grid on page to find exact location. Example: If the index says your street location is on pg, 12, grid A7, you would go to page 12. Then look at the top of the page for letter listings. When you find letter A, look down the boxes in that column until you find grid 7 labeled on the left and right edges of the page. Your street location will be in the box intersecting those grid locations.
