Question: Is there a Bike Lane Across the Verrazano Bridge, Brooklyn to Staten Island?

There are miles of bike lanes in Brooklyn, and countless people bike across the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges every month. It would be fun to do a day trip on the other side of the borough, and bike from Brooklyn to Staten Island to explore — or maybe even take a long distance ride to New Jersey. Can a person bike across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from Brooklyn to Staten Island?

Is there a bike lane on the Verrazano Bridge?

Answer:

No. There are no bike lanes on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge connecting Brooklyn and Staten Island. And, you cannot bike on the road across the bridge.

The only time the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is open to cyclists is for special occasions such as the annual Five Boro Bike Tour."
