I guess you can say I am like everyone else in this world, I have goals, dreams, a family and I work hard.
What no one really knows about me is that I had suffered from panic attacks for over sixteen years.
The only people that knew were my family, since they are the ones who had to watch me go in and out of emergency rooms with these panic attacks.
Now I am going to relive one of those horror story panic attacks with you here and then let you in on the three steps I took to find my own cure.
Back in July of 1992 I lost my mother to breast cancer.
This did not come as a shock because my brother and I had watched her battle this disease for over two years.
In March of 1993 my brother came to visit me in San Antonio Texas to see my first born son Scotty.
I had not seen him since our mothers passing.
We spent the day together and that evening he wanted to take in the city.
When he did not return to my home by 11:00pm, I went to bed.
The next morning I was contacted by the police department to identify my brothers body, he had been killed by a car crossing the highway.
I thought my world slipped away that day, I had to hold my baby boy for comfort to stay in touch with reality.
Months later, I seemed to start adjusting back to normal.
My husband and I decided to move to Wyoming as he had a received a great job offer and it was too good to pass up.
So, we packed up and headed out on July 9, 1993.
Twelve hours into the drive all that I remember seeing is our child fly across our car in a haze and then everything went black for me.
We had been in a major crash and we had lost our son.
At this point I was in shock, reality had not fully set in and would not set in for many weeks to come.
When we finally arrived in Wyoming and settled into our apartment, I began to fall apart when the moving van arrived with our baby boy's crib and cloths.
The close proximity of my entire family being taken in such short notice had finally taken it's toll.
Everything I did became a chore.
I felt ill and I drove myself to the emergency room.
Just as I turned in the driveway, I felt my lips and hands go numb and I felt like I was going to pass out.
The diagnosis was panic attacks.
I had never even heard of a panic attack and now I was living a nightmare.
This went on for the next sixteen years.
There was never any warning, they would just come out of the blue.
I knew I was going to die every time and every time the doctors would confirm it was another panic attack.
In 2007 I had discontinued leaving my home.
The last incident was trying to get out of my home to get to help.
To make a long story short, I was tired of being a victim of panic attacks.
I was getting help this time for good.
I got back from my last emergency room visit and I conducted an online search into panic attacks.
These are the three secrets that I learned that helped me to rid myself of panic attacks without medication and I did all of this within one week.
1.
Writing, why you ask? Because you release your creative energy and focus on your inner most thoughts instead of focusing on fear.
You are able to channel your fear outward instead of holding it all inside.
2.
Talking with others in in different forums that were specifically set up for panic attack sufferers and their families.
You can find out a lot of information by visiting these online forums.
You do not even need to talk, just read how others are dealing with the situation that you may be facing.
3.
Hobbies - just about any interest you can think of is an online topic now a days.
Find your passion and get involved, become part of a group and focus your energy on your passion.
This really helps when you are not ready to go outside the home.
I can not explain the release you get when you are able to give yourself the room to express your passions for something you truly enjoy.
I am proud to say that I have had no panic attacks to date, that had once haunted me for so long.
Writing, reading, speaking and focusing on a hobby I enjoy, have helped me to heal some deep wounds and recover from panic attacks.
