This may sound like the secret the world has been waiting for, perhaps it is, but firstly I have to qualify the statement by saying you can make any sensible diet work.
There are hundreds of diets but they all fall into four categories.
  1. High protein such as the Paleo and Atkins diet.
    While not the same they have a similar principal.
  2. Low fat such as weight watchers
  3. Balanced such as the Zone diet
  4. Calorie reduction such as the Five Two Fast diet.
While in my clinic I have a clear bias for the fast diet, because of its scientific research and it's easy to live with structure, I realise that different people are attracted to different dietary ideas.
All diets have one thing in common, you have to do them, you have to live with the restrictions, day in day out until you succeed or you through the book in the rubbish in a moment of frustration.
You have to stick to your plan no matter how many fast food outlets you pass, no matter how many restaurants or functions you are invited to, or how many chocolates are pilled up at the supermarket checkout.
You are probably starting to doubt whether you can do your diet.
I'm not telling you these things to put you off, in fact I'm not telling you anything that you haven't felt already.
So you know the problem, but knowing what's wrong won't get you into that smaller dress or those board shorts.
