How to Run the Recovery Console in Windows XP Without a Disc
- 1). Place the Windows XP product disc into your computer's optical drive.
- 2). Click the "Start" button, and then click the "Run" icon in the Start menu. This opens the "Run" dialog box.
- 3). Type the following text into the text box next to "Open" in the Run dialog box, and then click the "OK" button:
D:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete pre-installation. - 1). Turn on your computer, and select "Recovery Console" from startup menu options. This opens the Recovery Console.
- 2). Type the administrator password if prompted, and then press "Enter." This opens a Recovery Console command line.
- 3). Type commands at the command prompt to use the Recovery Console's repair functions.
