How to Block the Ability to Delete Browsing History on Windows XP

    • 1). Log on to the computer using an account that has administrator privileges. Then, start the Group Policy Editor. To do this, click on the Start button and then click "Run." A box will appear. Type "Gpedit.msc" and click OK.

    • 2). Expand "User Configuration" from the folder tree you see in the left (if it is not already expanded).

    • 3). Expand "Administrative Templates." You will find it under "User Configuration."

    • 4). Expand "Windows Components" and click on "Internet Explorer." You will see Internet Explorer's subcategories displayed in the panel to the right.

    • 5). Double-click on "Turn off 'Delete Browsing History' Functionality." A new window will pop up. Click on Enable, then click Apply, and then click OK.
