    American Legion Auxiliary Department of Texas Scholarship

    • The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Texas offers scholarships to Texas residents who had a parent or grandparent serve in the Armed Forces. In addition to completing the application, interested students must submit three letters of recommendation, a copy of their high school transcripts and resume and a letter from their local American Legion president or education chairman. The scholarship committee considers the applicant's goals, character, citizenship, need and objectives.

    Texas Restaurant Association Scholarship

    • Texas students pursuing a career in food service or hospitality can apply for the W. Price Jr. Memorial Scholarship offered by the Texas Restaurant Association. In addition to being Texas residents, applicants must be studying food service or hospitality full time, earning a minimum grade point average of 2.75. In addition to submitting an application, transcripts and letters of recommendation, applicants must answer two essay questions. The first asks applicants to explain why they are applying for the scholarship, and asks them to outline their philosophy on food service and career goals. The second requires applicants to explain how they will contribute to their community as a food service professional.

    The Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship

    • The Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship is a renewable annual scholarship for Texas residents with a demonstrated financial need and a record of academic success. Applicants should have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA. In addition, they need to submit a one-page essay that explains why they chose their field of study for college and elaborates on their financial need. Students also need to submit their transcripts and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

    Texas Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Scholarship

    • The Texas Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America offer several scholarships for students planning to major in family or consumer sciences. In 2010, the organization offered six scholarships to incoming Texas college students. Interested students must submit their high school transcripts, standardized test scores and three letters of recommendation, along with an application.
