Colour Indigo - The Pathway To The Soul
The colour INDIGO probably became most well known with the onset of Levi Strauss denim jeans.
A very deep blue it is recognised as the colour of the sixth chakra, known as the 'brow chakra' and also 'the third eye'.
It is the area where we receive and develop intuitive abilities and also the chakra from which healers can project colour, healing, and promote visualisation.
It connects with the eyes and ears and sinuses, and is linked to the pituitary gland.
When clear, and well connected with the crown chakra and pituitary gland, it forms one of the three triangles of light.
An interesting personal experience took place when receiving a Reiki attunement myself, the image of a gold triangle appeared in my mind and remained whilst the attunement took place.
Gold is the complementary colour for indigo.
Using and visualising the indigo colour helps to bring relaxation almost to a level of sedation and it is known to have pain releasing qualities.
A good way to experience this is to sit, or stand, outside on a clear night where there is no artificial light; the sensation of being part of a huge silent expanse of space can be both uplifting and peaceful, bringing the awareness that our bodies respond to energies that are powerful although unheard and unseen.
Modern science has now proved that molecules and receptors in our brains and bodies react with the stimulus they receive and will release specific responses to give us the feelings and emotions that we experience.
That proof has shown that we hold memories within those molecules, which can be kept in the subconscious mind, and will cause a reaction if stimulated by such things as colour, touch, sound, sight or even smell (Molecules of Emotion by Candace Pert Ph.

).
It is possible for very deep seated emotional pain to show as indigo in a patients colour chart and requires the therapist to be very patient, and empathic to help them deal with, and resolve it.
Using indigo helps to give us the space to quieten the mind, and to enter a deeper spiritual understanding, allowing inspirational thoughts to be channelled and the chance to just listen instead of communicating.
Finding indigo in the metabolic section of a chart can mean that the digestive system is under stress from mental or emotional problems, and 'comfort' eating whereby we are eating too much, is a strong sign that there are emotional issues to resolve, and we need some space within that system Using crystal is another very good way of working with the sixth chakra to develop deeper spiritual intuition and two very suitable stones are Lapis Lazuli and Sodalite.
Lapis Lazuli is a deep blue with gold streaks attributed to opening the 'third' eye and balancing the throat chakra, stimulating enlightenment and personal and spiritual power.
It brings peace and serenity releasing stress and teaching the value of active listening.
Sodalite unites logic with intuition and helps us to make space to live freely within our own chosen pathway, transmitting a clear feeling of who we are.
It increases our awareness and helps us to express our own convictions either verbally or actively.
There is a network of fine white veins throughout the stone, and from a healing point of view these suggest that sodalite should be good for the nervous system and the lymphatic system.
It can be worn as a piece of jewellery or placed on the forehead whilst meditating.
Some intuitive people enjoy doing what is known as 'Psychometry' which involves holding an object and tuning in to the vibrations and energy that it gives off.
All the objects that we live with take on some of our energy, and it can be helpful to hold that object against the brow chakra to get a deeper impression of the information being given off.
Whilst it isn't necessary to use colour to do that, visualising first indigo then its complementary, gold, would help to clear the chakra allowing a deeper insight in to the object.
Words channelled many decades ago talk about the need for alone-ness when looking for spiritual truths, a time to investigate one's own truths, beliefs and values, and through this to grow; and the colour indigo helps to give us that sense of space to look inwards with peace and serenity.
