How do I Clean the Printhead on a Lexmark Z11?
- 1). Check to see if the print heads were installed correctly. On the printer, press "Menu" to navigate to the utilities menu. Press "Select." Press the "Menu" button until you see the "Change Cartridge" option appear. Press "Select." Open the printer cover, and unlock the carriage lever that holds the cartridge in place. Lock the cartridge back in place, and close the cover. Print a test page to see if this fixes the issue with the printhead.
- 2). Run a cleaning cycle on the Lexmark Z11 printer. Press "Menu" until the "Utilities Menu" option appears. Press the "Select" button. Press "Menu" until the "Clean Printheads" option appears. Press "Select" to choose the short cleaning cycle, or press "Menu" until you see "Long Clean" displayed on the menu, and then press "Select." Wait for the printer to complete the cleaning cycle.
- 3). Manually clean the printheads on the Lexmark Z11. Remove the cartridge following the process in Step 1. Pull the ink cartridge out of the carrier after it is unlocked. Wipe the copper printheads with a soft cloth. Wet the cloth, and dab it against the nozzles to remove dried ink. These are on the face of the cartridge and just below the copper contacts. Allow the cartridge to dry, and install it by reversing the removal process.
- 4). Print a test page to see if the printhead is sufficiently clean. Repeat Steps 1 to 3 if further cleaning is required.
