How to Call the USA With a Calling Card From South Korea
- 1). Purchase a calling card. Make sure the card offers international minutes. Often, these cards are country-specific. That means you will need to buy a calling card specifically intended for use calling the U.S. from South Korea. Calling cards can be purchased at any local convenience store such as a 7-11 or Family Mart.
- 2). Access a telephone. Some public phones in Korea have a slot for swiping a calling card but most require you to call a number on the calling card and then enter a special code printed on the card. Once the card has been activated, dial the country code for the United States -- which is "1" -- followed by the local area code and telephone number.
- 3). Remove the card from the phone slot and make a note of your remaining minutes. Also, be aware of the card's expiration date. Many calling cards have minutes that degrade over time or eventually expire.
