Craft Ideas for Egg Cartons
- Cut apart the individual cups of the egg carton. Draw a face on each cup. Place a small amount of dirt into the cup. Place some grass or herb seeds in the dirt in each cup. Water the seeds and place them in a sunny spot until they begin to sprout. The plants will serve as the hair for the egg carton people.
- Cut an egg carton into two long strips by cutting down the middle of the cups. Paint each strip with different colors. Add eyes and a mouth to the front of the egg carton caterpillar. Poke holes on both sides of the first egg carton cup. Put pipe cleaners through the holes to create the antennae.
- Cut out two cups from an egg carton. Poke holes in the bottom of each cup. Make sure the holes are large enough to see through. Paint the two cups. Poke two small holes at the top of each of the cups. Cut a small length of pipe cleaner to connect the two cups; this will form the main part of the glasses. Cut longer lengths of pipe cleaner to go behind the ears. Place them in the outside holes on the egg carton cups. Curve the ends so they fit snugly behind the ears.
- Cut apart the egg carton cups. Turn them upside down so the open part is down. The cups will serve as the bodies of the people. Paint the cups as desired. Glue bottle caps onto the top of the egg carton cups to create the heads. Paint faces on the bottle caps. Use cereal boxes and other recycled materials to create a town for the egg carton family.
- Cut apart the egg carton cups. Decorate the cups with paint, crayons, markers or other craft supplies. Cut one 6-inch string for each bell. Thread the end of the string through the loop on a small jingle bell. Tie a knot 1 inch above the bell. Poke a hole in the bottom of the egg carton cup and thread the string through the hole.
