Thanksgiving Decorating Craft Ideas

Festive Thanksgiving decorations make your home welcoming and warm. Make a few Thanksgiving crafts to add color to your home and get in the holiday spirit. From a pine cone turkey centerpiece to an arrangement of colorful fall leaves, create the perfect Thanksgiving decorating crafts for your home. - Make pine cone turkeys with feathers, hot glue, medium or large pine cones, googly eyes and construction paper. Lay the pine cone on its side and find a spot so it will not roll. Glue the feathers on the back end of the pine cone so that they are sticking up. On the front end of the pine cone place an oval piece of brown construction paper and glue the googly eyes on it. Make a beak out of orange or yellow construction paper and glue it on the brown piece. This will make the turkey's face. If you want to add feet, cut the feet out of yellow construction paper and glue them to the bottom on the pine cone. Use your pine cone turkey to decorate for Thanksgiving or use as a centerpiece.
- Use a medium or large wicker basket and fill it with a variety of Thanksgiving items, such as pumpkins, gourds, autumn leaves and Indian corn. Sit the basket on a table or on the floor to use for Thanksgiving decoration.
- Create a pilgrim hat decoration with a terra-cotta pot, hot glue, black poster board, black felt, tape and yellow poster board. Wrap the black felt around the pot covering it completely. Use the hot glue to glue the felt to the terra-cotta pot. Take the yellow construction paper and cut a square out of it. Cut a square out of the middle of that square. This will make the buckle needed for the hat. Cut a black ring out of the black poster board to make the brim of the hat. Tape the poster board to the top of the pot. Glue the yellow buckle onto the pot right under the brim. Fill the pot with candy corn, autumn leaves or fall flowers.
- You will need several colors of buttons, paint, paintbrush, empty toilet paper rolls and glue. Paint an empty toilet paper roll in a fall colors, such as orange, brown or yellow. Glue several different-colored buttons all over the toilet paper roll. After the glue dries, slide the Indian corn napkin rings onto your dinner napkins.
