I Am Too Busy!
I have been thinking of our lives being BUSY today.
In being of an age when I can remember when Sunday included Church, and meeting family and friends for simple get togethers and meals everyone could enjoy.
This thought is anemic in today's world.
God allows for work.
Six days of it actually.
He did a lot more in His week in comparison to what we need to accomplish in ours.
Still, He wants at least one day of rest for us and to spend that time for us and Him together.
A simple: Keep Holy the Sabbath Day.
Even with the five-day workweek, we do anticipate one day of chores around the home.
Yes kids, I said "chores".
Put down the wii, mp3 player, and instant text messaging, and pick up your clothes, clean up your room, and help through the rest of the house with your mom and dad.
For families claiming to be Christian, refer to the Fourth Commandment: "Honor Your Mother and Father".
You will be surprised at how far this will go when there is less stress on your parents.
And, kids, know that you have some Divine back-up also.
For the reference and benefit of our children and other religion's reference, here is what the Vatican informs us of our responsibilities toward our children through the Cathechism of the Catholic Church: 2223 "...
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord".
The word that may have been skipped over is that important word "...
discipline...
".
Go ahead and re-read it.
This is only one sentence, and is not a license for parents or children not to become familiar with reviewing and knowledge of the entire Catechism.
Reference to the Catechism can be viewed in the reference below.
We are aware of other cultures and practices in which the family work together.
This is what attracted so many different Beliefs to come to America and for people to be free to practice her and his Beliefs openly.
Today we fill up the week with working and responsibilities.
These work and responsibilities are often well meaning although often misplaced.
The weekend comes and we try to fit everything into 48 hours of shopping, partying, relaxing, other activities, and our chores.
Often our "chores" also require that other people now have to work and be BUSY on their weekend too, not spending a simple day of reflection, some prayer time, family interaction, and appreciation for the blessings they may have around them.
What is busy? BUSY today too often translates to Being Under Satan's Yoke.
This makes the home life stressful, and puts our attention to wants, not needs, that takes the place of our family interactions and resources.
Realizing "less busy", will provide more time for ourselves, our family, our friends, and Spiritual healing.
When the American Forefathers saw opportunity for the new country, they turned to God for His Guidance and Blessings.
Our nation was formed and serviced by the everyday man and woman.
No, it was not perfect and a lot needed to be done to correct errors.
This is echoed throughout our history and in the monuments surrounding our nation's Capital in Washington, D.
C.
Even today, it is not perfect, and has errors that need to be corrected.
If we value all life as important and worthwhile, we have room to grow.
Too BUSY takes our focus off the necessities and fogs up the purpose we have in the short time we are here.
In closing, I heard this quote from an older Navy Chief when I was on Active Duty: "Those that do not believe in God have never been under fire in a foxhole".
Everyday we are also underfire.
How are we shielding our families from the shrapnel or fortifying our marriage from a hit? Too BUSY will not allow us to put on our Armour.
We haven't been too successful doing things our way.
Maybe we should work on it His way.
