Casio Protrek Tough Solar Triple SensorNot too many watches could - or, still can - withstand extreme weather or climatic conditions but while outdoors, you never know what the next hour might draw you into. That can be extreme cold or heat; extreme sand storms or blizzards or turbulent waves, so the technology to withstand them should be extreme as well.

CASIO thought on this line to develop the PRO TREK series. If you were planning to buy climbing or trekking or mountaineering gadgets (digital compass, altimeter, barometer, thermometer and so on) individually, get a Pro-Trek and lay all your worries to rest. The practical functions vary with the models; the higher you move in the series, more options you get. But then again, even the most basic Pro-Trek comes with the most essential functions to steer you out clear of several types of difficult situations. Any of your outdoor pursuits is incomplete without a Pro Trek.

Choosing the appropriate Pro-Trek; however, needs you to know a little on the series nomenclature. If you want a radio-controlled Pro Trek, look among the PRW; this is the Casio Protrek Atomic Radio Controlled Watch series. The Pro-Trek watches without the wave-ceptor technology are found under the PRG category but if you really want a very high-end Protrek (meant for the Japanese domestic market only; come with sapphire crystal and wave captor), look for one in the PRX - Protrek Xtreme series.

The Casio Protrek now come with a 3-Sensor (V3.00) technology, the direction and pressure sensors (for altimeter/barometer) downsized to 5% of their previous measures. That makes it a slower guzzler too; now it runs on 10& of the power it required formerly. The readings are more accurate and respond to every 1m up or down, within 1 second instead of 5. The compass measurements are continuous and images are HD in its real sense. You may even set alarms for atmospheric pressure trends and swings.

Sadly, it doesn't record the style or fashion trends. But with something as stylish as the Pro-Trek, you don't need any.
