Atlanta, Georgia, is a vibrant Southern city of over 4 million people, but when considering the social and recreational opportunities for singles, snow skiing is unlikely to start at the top of anybody's list. However, two metropolitan-area ski clubs and one two hours away in Augusta take their members to the snow in winter and have plenty of activities year-round. - The Atlanta Ski Club, a non-profit organization founded in 1964, is run by volunteers on its board of directors and committees but also has a permanent office and full-time staff. During the winter, it runs numerous ski trips, usually lasting a week and including from 40 to 120 people of all skill levels. The off-season schedule includes events like hikes, white-water rafting, summer skiing in Argentina and monthly socials that draw hundreds of people to area restaurants.
