How to Ask Your Boss for a Day Off
- 1). Give your boss plenty of notice, so there is time for your boss and team members to prepare. A month or so is a good amount of notice when asking for a day off.
- 2). Ask for a day off, instead of stating you're taking a day off. It is considered rude to assume your boss will be OK with it. By asking, you are showing respect to your boss.
- 3). Offer to stay in touch during the day off, via e-mail or phone. This shows you aren't abandoning your workload completely.
- 4). Tell your boss about your plans to have a day off before you tell any co-workers. If word gets to your boss through someone else, it can also be looked at as rude and assuming.
