What is a Tanning Bed?

Tanning bed is a device that uses ultraviolet radiation to produce a cosmetics tan which contains several fluorescent lamps with phosphor blends specially designed to emit UV which is somehow similar to the sun.
There are home tanning beds which usually uses less watt (12 to 28 100 watt) lamps while those larger ones in the salons can run from 24 to 60 lamps which will consume 100 to 200 watts.
There are tanning beds which are much more expensive since it contains higher pressure which generate mainly on UVA with some UVB using specialized quartz lamps, reflector and filters.
While tanning bed allows you to lie down, there are also tanning booth which requires you to stand while tanning and the power output of booth is higher.
The bad news is, due to the large amount of exposure to UV radiation there are effects on human health such as skin cancer, suppression of the immune system and premature skin aging.
The WHO do not recommend the use of UV tanning devices but there are experts who suggest that getting tanned on the bed is much more safer than the sun.
So if you really want to try it out there are several steps you need to follow to make sure your skin is protected.
Tanning lotion is a must to apply on your whole body before jumping into the tanning bed.
This will help you block excess UV rays from burning your skin.
Never overdo your sessions in terms on time as UV rays can be pretty harmful.
If you have extremely fair and light skin, start it with only 5 minutes and if you have darker skin, 7 minutes will do just fine.
If it hurts when you get up, then you have gone too far.
The US law says that you can only go up to a maximum of 20 minutes under the UV rays and it is sufficient enough which more than what you need is.
Never have the idea of you get tan faster by lying on the bed longer.
It will not work.
Make sure to schedule your sessions at regular intervals.
Never compare with others as some people get tanned faster, depending on the skin type.
Try scheduling it thrice a week, over 24 hours because if you do not, it will leave you with serious burns instead.
24 hours rest allows your skin to jump off with a new level.
Tips on safe tanning might not always work especially if you are a beginner, so always listen to your body.
When you start feeling pain or hurt, jump off from the bed.
If you are the salon, tell your attendant that this is your first time as you will be specially taken care of.
Tanning bed is a good way to control the UV rays that hit your skin so make sure you do it right.
