The Inline Ice Blade
Most of the inline-to-ice discussions are about competitive inline speed skating or roller figure skating competitive champions who move to ice for a shot at the Olympics. But, there has also been a little information on another inline-to-ice transformation that allows an inline skater to use their skates for a little fun on ice by just adding a blade to the rail that normally holds the wheels. Some of the previous attempts were not durable and did not offer a universal fit for a variety of brands, since they were designed to fit one particular manufacturer's skate line or discipline.
Other efforts appeared to be more durable, but that was because they were part of an individual skate model specifically packaged with both inline rails and a set of ice blades included or as an option like the Hypno Skates or the Powerslide Phuzion Urban Inline/Ice Set.
Today, there is a more universal ice blade product solution that is durable and fits the majority of recreational inline skates from a variety of manufacturers. This product is called Inline Ice Blades, and these blades allow most skaters to convert their favorite inline skates into recreational ice skates in minutes and for a very small investment. Inline Ice Blades can be mounted on inline skate frames that are designed with 64mm through 80mm wheels.
Inline Ice Blades Performance
This conversion ice blade seems to perform very well on inline skates. An Inline Ice Blade testing video shows a group of skaters having fun using these ice blades for recreational skating activities. The blades seem to function in their own little niche world that lies somewhere between a recreational ice hockey skate and an entry level ice figure skate without a toe pick for spiking jumps.
The fully rounded blade ends allow smooth freestyle slalom and dance maneuvers using the hells and toes of the skate that no hockey or figure skate could allow a skater to perform.
