    • 1). Pick the paint color for your accent wall. Using an accent color that is present in your bedding, curtains or other decor in the room is an excellent choice. For instance, if you have a hot pink bedspread and curtains with a lime green print, and pink throw pillows, rugs or other accessories about the room, lime green is an excellent choice for the accent wall. You can also use a monochromatic color to create a more subtle look in the room. For instance, if you have bedding that is a medium blue shade and your walls are painted a pale blue, you can paint the accent wall with a deep blue shade or even a stark white.

    • 2). Clean the wall to allow the paint to adhere better. Use a damp cloth to remove any dirt or grime. If your bedroom walls were cleaned recently, use a feather duster or broom to clear away any cobwebs.

    • 3). Use a good-quality sash brush to cut in ceiling, around windows and baseboards. You can also use masking or painter's tape for this step. This makes the painting job quicker by filling in these difficult areas first before using the paint roller.

    • 4). Apply the accent paint over the rest of the wall by using a quality paint roller. Allow it to dry. It may be necessary to use two coats of paint to provide ample coverage.
