How to Dust Oil Paintings
- 1). Use a feather duster -- or a commercial duster -- for light dust removal. Make sure that the duster is fully clean by shaking it thoroughly before beginning. Replace the pad on the commercial duster with a new one, if necessary
- 2). Get as close to the painting as possible so you can see how much surface dust there is. Use a stepladder.
- 3). Wipe the surface of the painting with a dry cloth for a higher build-up of dust. Use small strokes and switch to clean parts of the cloth as the dust and dirt builds up. Switch to a new cloth, if necessary.
