How to Build a Squidoo Lens to Compliment Your Article Marketing Strategies

103 24
We all know that article writing on a regular basis is probably one of the easiest ways to get traffic to your website.
When I was first introduced to article writing overt five years ago, I never realized just how powerful it could be.
Had I done so I would have succeeded quite a bit sooner than I did.
Anyway, what I want to talk about today is not article writing and submitting to directories, but using Squiddoo to supplement this.
If you do things right you could probably get both your article and your Squidoo lens on the same page for Google.
You want to follow some of the same general guidelines as with any Article Marketing, but what I have noticed though, is that Squidoo may start out lower than EzineArticles, but will generally climb over time...
and they have been staying on the front page, even though some folks will try and tell you that Google no longer favors Squidoo.
So, how do we do it? You have found your keyword phrase and are ready to go to Squidoo, and one of the first things they ask is...
what you want to name your lens...
which is going to be your URL...
This is one of the most important factors...
you want your URL to be your keyword phrase! So...
if your phrase is Pet Hamsters you want your lens to be named: http://www.
squido.
com/pethamsters Remember that once you choose your URL...
you can not change it...
you would have to start another lens if you want to change.
The next most important aspect...
is the title of your lens...
just like in Article Marketing.
This is what gets people to read your lens.
Then as far as Google is concerned the most important module is the introduction.
So make sure you have a sensible keyword density...
and bold your keyword phrase a few times in your intro.
So in order of importance: 1.
The URL of your lens 2.
Title 3.
Intro The URL I want for my lens is already taken! Let's use the above as an example: Pet Hamsters, that URL is already taken, NEVER FEAR! There are a couple simple solutions that makes very little difference in Google's Eyes...
You could name your lens pet-hamsters pet+hamsters or...
pethamsters2 Very simple, and as far as Google is concerned, just about the same thing! So all you have to do is add some original content to your Lens and keep coming back on a regular basis, every two or three weeks or so, and let your lens roll.
A content tip is to take snippets from your articles and link back to them on EzineArticles or wherever you have your articles posted.
You can also add RSS feeds, YouTube Videos and Amazon modules and more.
There is so much to do on Squidoo that it really is a fun way to market your website.
So go and have some fun.
