104 95

    Time Frame

    • On December 17, 2010, Hankook Tire informed the NHTSA that it would be recalling 17,729 tires. At that time, Hankook estimated it would begin notifying all registered tire owners in January 2011.

    Defect Description

    • Certain Hankook tires of size P265/70R17S RH03, which were sold as replacement tires for passenger vehicles, may contain a defect that performance testing shows may cause the tires to experience less than expected sidewall performance.

    Risk

    • Premature wear of the sidewalls of these Hankook tires may cause a blow-out. A tire blow-out can cause a dangerous accident that could result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle.

    Repair

    • Hankook will replace the recalled tires free of charge. Notification began in January 2011 to tire owners on record with Hankook. Drivers who did not register their tires might not have received recall notification. Concerned consumers should verify with NHTSA or the manufacturer to determine whether their tires might be affected by this problem.
