How to Hook Up Your TV to a Computer
- 1). Install a specialty capture video card. You need a video card that has the inputs and outputs to connect to your TV. Some common cards that have these capabilities include ATI All-in-Wonder cards and Pinnacle cards. Open the computer case and unscrew the current video card and pull it out and insert the new video card.
- 2). Connect the cables from the video card to your TV. The card will have outputs so that you can show what is on your computer on your TV. The cable might be a coaxial cable or a composite or some other cable. Connect the cable from the "video out" on the video card to the "video in" or "signal" on the TV connection. Connect another cable from the video card's "video input" or "antenna" connection that matches the connection type to the "video out" on the TV or DVR.
- 3). Install video capture software that came with the video card. The software will allow you to select what to watch or record. You will have to turn on your TV or video device when needed.
