How do I Siphon a Farm Pond?
- 1). Connect one end of the garden hose to a garden tap. Be sure that it is securely screwed onto the tap so that water does not spray out when the tap is turned on.
- 2). Place the other end at the bottom of the pond. Use a heavy rock to keep the hose in place.
- 3). Turn on the garden tap. Once water has filled the entire hose and has begun to pour into the pond, turn off the garden tap.
- 4). Unscrew the hose from the tap and place your thumb over the end so that no water escapes and no air gets into the hose.
- 5). Bring the end of the hose to an area lower than the bottom of the pond, and where you would like the water to drain. The lower the area, the faster the pond will siphon.
- 6). Remove your thumb from the hose and lay it on the ground so the pond will start siphoning.
