Facial Cleansing Brush: How to Use a Facial Cleansing Brush

Recently, there has been a lot of hype surrounding the facial cleansing brush and its effectiveness on your skin. This electronic beauty tool promises to remove way more makeup than hands or a washcloth - about 85% more! This allows your hard earned money spent on skin care products to work better and faster. It also exfoliates the skin, cleans pores better, and reduces sun damage to even out skin tone.

I was introduced to the facial cleansing brush a few years ago while at a dermatologist's office. She used it on my face, and I couldn't believe the difference. My skin looked more radiant immediately! I had to have this bad boy - I was addicted!

To get the most from your facial cleansing brush, be sure you are using it correctly. Here are a few tips on how to use a facial cleansing brush to help you get the maximum benefits.

1. Wet your face and lather a creamy, foamy cleanser onto the skin. Turn on the tool and move it in a circular motion over the skin, one area at a time for about 10 - 15 seconds each. After you finish your entire face, rinse with warm water.
2. Rinse the brush head with warm water, remove it from the tool and allow it to dry. It is also recommended to clean it once a week with a brush cleaner or disinfectant. Be sure to replace the brush heads every 3 months for the best results.
3. If you have sensitive skin or acne, do not use a cleanser that exfoliates as it may be too much scrubbing. Facial cleansing brushes are very good to keep the skin clean and control acne.
4. Don't share your brush heads. You can share the actual tool itself with other members in your household, but everyone needs to have their own brush.
5. Don't overuse the brush. Once a day, at the end of the day, to remove a day's worth of makeup and dirt is enough. Using the facial cleansing brush too much can cause redness and irritation on the skin.
6. Most of the facial cleansing brushes are waterproof and can be used in the shower. That's a nice perk, especially if you decide to use it on your body.

As the facial cleansing brushes have gained popularity, many versions of the tool are now available. I have used both the super expensive ($200) and the less expensive ($50) versions. While the higher price tool is also higher powered, the cheaper version seems to get the job done for a fraction of the cost.
