Major League Baseball hasn't had a back-to-back World Series champ since the 2000 New York Yankees.

That streak is in no danger of ending this season, thanks to the Boston Red Sox imploding like A-Rod in the clutch. (Sorry, couldn't resist. We've missed you, Alex.)

This postseason isn't going to feature A-Rod, the Red Sox and probably not the Yankees, but there should be plenty of Clayton Kershaw, Mike Trout and maybe even an appearance by the Kansas City Royals for the first time in 29 years.

Let's break down the playoff situation as we enter the final three weeks of the regular season (all records are through Sept. 5):

American League East


Baltimore Orioles (82-58)
