Toshiba XD-E500 Upscaling DVD Player - Remote Control
Here is a photo of the remote control provided for the Toshiba XD-E500. The remote control is of average size, and is divided into four sections.
The first section consists of the On/Off, Eject, and Direct Access chapter buttons.
Moving down, the second section features the transport controls, such as Stop, Player, FF, RW, Scan, etc... Also, this section also features the Picture Mode button, which activated the Extended Detail Functions (Sharpness, Color, Contrast).
Below the transport buttons are Onscreen Menu Access and Nagivation buttons.
Finally, the bottom section features less used function buttons, such as Setup, Zoom, HDMI select, Progressive/interlaced, Onscreen display activation, etc...
Although the remote control provides all the needed functions, I have four complaints:
1. It looks cheap - like something you would expect from a "B" brand manufacturer.
2. The buttons are small, making it more difficult to use merely by feel. I would have prefered a slightly longer remote if larger buttons could be placed on it.
3. The remote control and buttons are all black.
4. The remote control is not Backlit. This makes it more difficult to use in the darkened room.
