They are market, products, customer care and follow up and good return on investment.

Market: Is your market big enough and does it have a fair amount of competition.
Also does it have buyers who have open wallets? Competition is a good sign because it means people buys things.
If your market has many sub niches it is even better as it gives you a lot of opportunity to branch out.

Good quality products or services.
Can your market offer people products that will add value to their lives? People will only buy if they perceive this to be the case, so make sure you can provide this to them.
3.
Good customer care and follow up: The one thing you do not want to do is be associated with any product or service that does not give your customers good service or follow up once they buy the products.
This could give you a bad reputation.
So make sure what your product owner offers or can do for you and your customers during the whole sales process and afterwards.
4.
Good return on investment: Make sure that you sell products that give you the best return on the money you invested.
For a start look for products that gives you the biggest commission for every sale you make and that are willing to give you bonuses for sales over a certain number etc.
This one the most important parts of every business and you need to keep track of it.
I need to emphasize that this is not an exhausted list any way you look at it but it does provide the bases for any solid and healthy affiliate marketing business.
The bottom line is to not be caught with your pants on your knees.
