Why Does Your Car Fan Turn Off When You Go Up a Hill?
- Car engines get hot. To avoid overheating, the car has a system in place to help regulate temperature. Two main components of this system are the radiator and engine fan.
- The radiator fan turns on and off at different times depending on preset limits. When the engine's temperature reaches a maximum, the fan turns on to help cool the engine. Then, when the temperature drops below the limit, the fan will turn off.
- There are some activities that put more strain on the engine than others, and hence, will cause temperature to rise. Some of these include running the AC, climbing steep inclines and red-lining the engine.
