Guide for Outdoor BBQ - Top Advices!

As I opened up the cover to my grill, began wire brushing down the grates and removing the flakes of metal and rust, it was pretty apparent that it was time to look at investing in a new unit. Gazing at this broken down, ten year old cooker, I pondered what my new and improved barbecue would be like. Would it have side shelves, a rotisserie, a viewing glass, would I still have to light it with a lighter and what sort of glorious recipes would I be brewing up? The thought did not get far when reality startled me, a flare up, my wife hates when I present her with a platter that looks like it would be better suited as a burnt offering to some Roman God.

The next afternoon I began perusing the on line sites for a prize grill that would adorn my back patio. BBQ's galore is the sensation that overcame me as I began reviewing the plethora of grills that a Google search offered up. How in the world would I know what to look for? I happen to come across an Australian company, Beefeater and found on their site a list of what to look for in the perfect grill.

• Easy to use and clean with rust resistant surfaces

• An ignite assembly that does not require batteries

• Materials of a commercial grade

• Evenly distributed heat with burners that will sear

• A grease management system that is also easy to access and clean

• A technology to reduce flare ups (my wife's favorite)

• And a unit that is made by a respectable company that provides a good warranty

This was it; I now had my marching orders.

I finally came across a unit made by Onward Manufacturing out of Ontario, Canada by the name of Huntington. Huntington produces 3 lines of grills: the Cast, the Rebel and the Patriot.

The Cast is a 3 burner, 40,000 btu output unit with a 10,000btu side burner. It has a total cooking surface of 635 sq in of porcelain coated cast iron grates as well as a Flav-R Wave feature that is made to reduce flare-ups that has a porcelain coated surface as well.

The Rebel is their mid-line offering that builds off of the Cast model. It has a higher heat output of 50,000btu, with 5 burners, a side burner and comes with a rotisserie rear burner pushing out an additional 15,000btu. This unit contains the patented Flav-R Wav technology and comes with a premium rotisserie kit so that the rotisserie burner can be put to use.

The last offering in the Huntington series is the Patriot, know with a name like that one would expect great things and from the literature I don't think one would be disappointed. This unit sports a 6 burner assembly with an output of 60,000 btu's, a small home furnace. It too has the Flav-R Wave feature, a side burner and a 15,000 btu output rotisserie burner. The hood has a built in light assembly and thermometer. The trolley has a fuel tank cabinet, cabinet doors and a condiment bin. 1005 square inches of porcelain coated, cast iron cooking surface, enough to make you the envy of the neighborhood.
