Condom Failure and How to Avoid It

103 33
Condom failure is a possibility you face each time you use one.
There is no 100% guarantee that a condom will not tear or rupture during sex, especially during rough sex.
The following are areas to watch out for (in no particular order of importance) to reduce the chances of condom failure the next time you have sex.
1.
Make sure your condom is well lubricated.
If there is insufficient lubrication, the friction may cause the condom to tear or to cause it to be pulled off during sex.
Many condoms are pre-lubricated but during long love making sessions, you may need to use extra lubricants.
So keep a tube of lubricants nearby at all times.
2.
Be careful when you have rough sex.
Due to the extreme force exerted, it is possible for a condom to rupture or get pulled off.
The key is to be in control and be aware if the condom starts to slip out.
3.
Be alert when the lovemaking continues for some time.
This is because it is natural for many men to lose their hardness somewhat during long lovemaking sessions.
During these instances, the condoms tend to get loose and could slip off easily.
Always be on the lookout for such occurrences during sex.
4.
Be careful when using certain types of lubricants with certain types of condoms.
Oil based lubricants can actually dissolve the latex in latex condoms.
Some silicone-based lubricants also can dissolve latex.
Go for water-based lubricants if you are not sure.
5.
Make sure you don't use condoms beyond their expiry date.
Condoms have a shelf life and the expiry date can easily be seen on the package.
After the expiry date, the probability of condom failure increases greatly.
After all, the date is there for a reason and one of these is to reduce the chances of condom failure.
6.
Follow any specific instructions for the condom you are using.
This may sound like a common sense advice but it is still valid advice nonetheless.
Instructions like using each condom only once and how to put on a condom are very important.
So follow the specific instructions for each condom and you will go a long way to reduce the probability of condom failure.
