How Much Controversy Can I Get Away With on My Blog?
It has often been said that controversy will get more traffic on your blog.
Some people argue this is not so, but the reality is, in the past people who had controversial blogs got much more of the traffic.
The question is; is this really traffic that you want? If you have controversial topics that have to do with popular political events, or social commentary you may end up with lots of traffic, but it may not be the type of traffic that would end up ever buying anything from your online business.
If your goal is just to get lots of traffic and try to convert it to AdSense revenue, then massive amounts of traffic coming to read about the most controversial events of the day might be a method to draw in that level of person.
However, you must also consider, that there are a ton of controversial blogs out they are all trying to compete for the craziest, wildest, and most chaotic blog posts.
If you get caught up in that world, you are liable to post something on your blog that you might be sorry for later; something that could come back to haunt you.
After all, you must remember that we are in a politically correct society, which punishes people, and damages their reputation if they speak out of turn from the will and the wishes of the mindless masses.
It's up to you how you decide to play it that is if you are selling a legitimate product, or trying to promote your small business online through blogging.
Indeed, I would recommend that you don't get too awfully controversial.
That is not to say that you should totally avoid controversial topics, you may wish to post on issues or events that are happening in your industry from time to time.
Still, I hope you will please consider all this.
