How to Compare the Prices & Efficiency of Energy Star Room Air Conditioners
- 1). Go to the Energy Star website and click on "Find Energy Star Products" (see Resources).
- 2). Click the "Air Conditioning, Room" link found under the "Heating & Cooling" heading.
- 3). Use the Excel, text or HTML links on the right side of the screen to view a list of room air conditioners that meet the Energy Star criteria. The list allows you to compare the energy efficiency rating (EER) and features of various models. The higher the EER, the more efficient the air conditioner is. A set of definitions for the column headers is available at the top of the ratings.
- 1). Go the Lowe's website and hover over the "Shop by Department" menu (see References). Look for the "Heating & Cooling" heading, then click on "Air Conditioners."
- 2). Expand the "Energy Star Qualified" menu on the left side of the screen and click "Yes."
- 3). Use the "Price" menu on the left to find models that fit your budget criteria.
- 1). Go to the Home Depot website (see References) and hover over the "Appliances" menu at the top of the screen, then select "Air Conditioners, Fans and Dehumidifiers."
- 2). Click "Air Conditioners" under the category heading that appears on the left side of the screen.
- 3). Scroll down and select the "Energy Star" link at the bottom of the left column.
- 4). Use the "Price" link at left to see models in your price range.
- 1). Go to the Wal-Mart website and hover over the "For the Home" menu, then click on the "Appliance" link (see References).
- 2). Click the "Heating, Cooling and Air Quality" link on the left side of the screen.
- 3). Press the "Air conditioners" link at left.
- 4). Look for models with "Energy Star" in the link title.
