How to Connect to the Internet by Phone Without Servers
- 1). Contact your local land-line dial up Internet provider. There are several available, such as NetZero or Juno. Most charge roughly $10 dollars a month as of 2010.
- 2). Insert the product installation CD that came with your service into the disc drive of your computer, then wait a moment for the installation wizard to load onto the screen. Follow the prompts of the installation wizard to completely setup the software onto your computer.
- 3). Open the program. Type in a desired username and password, then enter in your location. From here you are given a list of local area numbers. Select one of the numbers, then click "OK."
- 4). Plug the telephone cable into the telephone jack in the wall, then plug the other end of the cable into the telephone "In" port on the back of your computer.
- 5). Click "Connect" in your Internet program to connect to the Internet through the land-line connection.
